An ultraviolet (UV) sterilizer uses ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) as a sterilization method to break down microorganisms including pathogens, viruses and molds. The ultraviolet rays work to destroy microorganisms' DNA, thus disrupting their ability to reproduce and effectively killing them.
